Waste generation in the European Union has been around 500 kg per capita in the last decade. In 2021, total waste generation varied considerably between different EU countries, ranging from 802 kg per capita in Denmark to 466 kg per capita in Spain.The variation reflects differences in consumption patterns and economic wealth between countries.
